How to Plan a Proposal on a Yacht in Dubai (Step by Step)

A simple step-by-step guide to planning a private yacht proposal in Dubai or Abu Dhabi – the boat, the time, the moment and the photos.

A private yacht is one of the most romantic places to ask the big question: the sea, the skyline and nobody else around. Here is how to plan a yacht proposal in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, step by step, so you can focus on the moment.

Step 1: Choose the right time

Sunset is the classic choice – golden light, beautiful photos and the city lights coming on afterwards. Book a trip that starts about an hour before sunset. A night cruise is also very romantic and usually calmer. Read more in Best Time for a Yacht Cruise in Dubai.

Step 2: Choose the yacht

For a couple, a smaller yacht feels more intimate and costs less:

  • Gulf Craft 42 in Abu Dhabi – up to 8 guests, AED 415 / hour.
  • Zia – 52 ft in Dubai – up to 17 guests, AED 600 / hour.
  • Pershing 5X in Dubai – a fast luxury yacht for a truly special moment, AED 3,000 / hour.

Want family and friends to jump out with a surprise after the “yes”? Choose a bigger boat such as Wukong – 68 ft (up to 25 guests).

Step 3: Book at least two hours

All our yachts have a 2-hour minimum. That is perfect for a proposal: time to relax first, the big moment at the best light, and time to celebrate after.

Step 4: Plan the moment

  • Tell us in advance on WhatsApp that it is a proposal, so the crew knows the plan and keeps it secret.
  • Pick the spot: the front deck with the skyline behind you is the favourite.
  • Agree on a signal with the crew, for example when to turn the music down.
  • Have a cover story – “a sunset cruise for my birthday” works well.

Step 5: Decoration, flowers and cake

Ask us on WhatsApp about flowers, balloons, a “Marry Me” sign and a cake. We will share the options and prices for your date.

Step 6: The photos

You will want to remember this forever. Ask a friend to come along as the “photographer”. Set up your phone on a small tripod to film the moment.

Step 7: Small details that matter

  • Both of you need an original passport or Emirates ID to board – make sure your partner brings it without spoiling the surprise.
  • Keep the ring in a zipped pocket – you are on a boat.
  • Bring a light jacket for the evening breeze.

Easy payment

Pay by card or Apple Pay, or split it with Tabby (4 payments) or Tamara through WhatsApp.
